England pacer shocked after snake appears in Kochi hotel's swimming pool
England fast bowler Stuart Meaker had an unusual companion to swim with at the team's hotel swimming pool.
The Surrey paceman decided to abort his morning dip as he freaked out after spotting a snake in the hotel’s swimming pool in Kochi.
However, according to an eyewitness, the snake was not even close to being as large and frightening, as Meaker was keen to make out, the Daily Mail reports.
The reptile it turned out was a harmless water snake, which was swiftly and calmly removed by hotel staff.
Reacting to the incident, the England cricketer, was quoted by The Sun, as saying, “I’d just dipped my toe in the pool and this thing slithered past. It freaked me out – it was a sea snake. I grabbed a hotel worker’s attention and they took it out. They said it was not venomous.
“I still went for a swim afterwards, but rest assured I had my goggles on and was looking every which way to make sure there was nothing else.”
England will play India in the second one-day international in Kochi on Tuesday, after taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after winning the first ODI in Rajkot by 9 runs.
