After it was revealed that the pseudo godman's tentacles were spread across the country with conduits in Kolkata and Hyderabad, apart from Delhi, it has come to notice that he is also wanted by the Rajasthan police.
A Jaipur police official, Tara Chand, was present in Thursday's court hearing of the Swami, whose real name is Rajeev Ranjan Dwivedi. He told MiD DAY that the Rajasthan police was on the tail of the Swami in connection with investigations into the case of a missing girl.
The policeman, who had come to attend the hearing with the brother of the girl, said Kripa Aggarwal, 19, had eloped with a boy from Jaipur on December 23. The girl called up her family in January, telling them she was fine and they should not bother to search for her. The baba also assured her family that he will try to see that Kripa returns home. However, it never happened.
When Kripa's family approached the police, the cops traced the number from which she had called her
family to Dwivedi.
In fact, the police had got the tip-off for 11 girls at baba's ashram in Delhi, but only six were apprehended. The remaining five are yet to be accounted for.
So far, the Jaipur police has not been able to get the custody of the baba, but sources told MiD DAY that the Delhi Police may assist them in questioning the Swami regarding the case.
Meanwhile, the court has extended the police custody for Dwivedi till March 9. The prosecution had asked for an extension in the remand to question him about the missing girls and also of the properties owned by him in Delhi and other places.
They also want to get details about the phone records and the website of the fake godman.
