Makers of 'Aashiqui' sequel take a cue from Shakespeare
Makers of the sequel of Aashiqui incorporated a balcony scene from the original Romeo and Juliet
The 1990 release Ashiqui was hailed as a cult love story of its time. The makers of the film’s sequel have now apparently decided to literally go up a notch higher. Sources say the lead pair will enact a scene straight out of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet for the film.
It was during the Goa schedule of the project that director Mohit Suri came up with the idea. A balcony scene from the original romance drama will essay Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor doing the act.
A unit member says, “It is a romantic film and the scene was apt for the story.”
Since Aditya’s character was required to hang off the balcony, initially a body double was to be called in. But later apparently Aditya managed to do it all by himself.
Mohit adds, “I was a bit skeptical first about it. But we were relieved when it went all good.”
Producer Bhushan Kumar says, “Aditya had to hang from the balcony for more than half an hour. He did it without complaining.”
